Segarra Asks Schools To Change Course, Schools Cancel Meeting

Here’s a quick story running at 4 p.m.  We’ll have much more later — including a re-air of our story from this morning.

The Hartford board of education was going to name a new school superintendent tonight, but that meeting has been canceled.

Following a story on WNPR that highlighted concerns in the community about the board’s process for selecting a new superintendent, Mayor Pedro Segarra held a press conference today.  Just hours before the board was to meet, he called on its members to change course and begin again with a national search.  The board of education then canceled its meeting.

You can listen for more on this story in the five o’clock hour.
