Hartford Police Chief Search Could Take Longer Than Planned

Since the Mayor is asking: the objective of the new chief should be to make successful arrests of bad guys, not to reduce crime rates, per se. The cops have to take the citizenry as they are found, and in our case we are a more criminal lot. Therefor, the rate of crime is not particularly within the control of the cops. The more important statistic is the percentage of open cases, particularly serious crimes, closed. Second, as long as I have his ear, I’d like the Mayor to consider a chief more serious than less about finding ways to enforce quality of life/nuisance laws that are presently seemingly disregarded. One such nuisance that comes to mind is the use of ATV’s in the streets and in the parks.
