I can’t claim familiarity with this issue at all. But blogger Kevin Brookman has a bit of a niche on HPD reporting. Pretty much the only police reporting in the city. (I’ll clarify — police department reporting.) Check him out.
Anyhow, in a vague press release, the city said this:
Hartford Mayor Pedro E. Segarra issued this statement today regarding the Hartford Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division:
“I have already met with Police Chief Daryl Roberts and have directed him to order an immediate independent review of the IAD. As matters continue to unfold, I reserve my right to take additional action to preserve the integrity, trust, and public safety of the community.”
We asked for more explanation, and got this:
Internal personnel matters have come to the Mayor’s attention and require additional attention so the Mayor is taking diligent but aggressive action.
