Following Up On Medina’s Reprimand

You’ll recall  schools spokesman David Medina was “reprimanded” for his efforts to lobby on behalf of one of the two candidates for Hartford’s superintendent job.  In the end, Medina’s candidate — Dr. Christina Kishimoto — got the nod, but some board members said that Medina’s community outreach on Kishimoto’s behalf had no effect on the process.

Earlier, we asked for a copy of the reprimand and were told none existed.  Now, from the email we received from the schools below, it looks as though Superintendent Steven Adamowski gave Medina a verbal reprimand.  It’s unclear  what that verbal reprimand entailed.  We’ve asked.

In response to your request below, please note that we do not have a record of a verbal reprimand; this is consistent with a verbal warning as it is verbal not written.  Furthermore, there is no formal Board policy concerning reprimands.  The Board follows progressive discipline steps according to labor and employment laws and practices.  The first step of progressive discipline is generally a verbal reprimand.
