Hartford City Council To Pick New Treasurer

You’ll recall that the city council has a few vacancies to fill.  Although it’s still unclear whether the seven remaining council members can agree on two council appointees to fill the spots of Matt Ritter (he was elected to the state legislature) and Veronica Airey-Wilson (she retired from city service under the city’s recent retirement incentive program), there’s another one — the city treasurer.

Kathleen Palm Devine also left her elected seat when she took advantage of the retirement incentive program.  Now it looks like the city council may have chosen Adam Cloud to fill that spot. The summary of the resolution is below (thanks to Hartford 2000).

Appointment of New Treasurer – The Council will vote on a resolution appointing Assistant City Treasurer Adam M. Cloud as Treasurer of the City of Hartford effective February 2, 2011.  The retirement of City Treasurer Kathleen Palm Devine will leave a vacancy in the elective office of City Treasurer.  The City’s Charter provides that the City Council shall appoint a successor in the case of a vacancy in an elective office.
