Looks like demolition of the Butt Ugly building will begin this week.
It also looks as though Mayor Pedro Segarra doesn’t much like the building’s popular name (Butt Ugly) and is sticking to its prior name: the HB Davis Building.
Not nearly as interesting.

LONG AWAITED DEMOLITION OF EYESORE BEGINS

WHAT: News conference and start of demolition of the H.B. Davis Building
WHERE: Corner of Trumbull Street and Chapel Street North (back side of the building.)
WHEN: Wednesday, October 27th at 4:00 p.m.
There will be brief remarks before the claw begins demolition. Back in July, the Hartford Redevelopment Agency voted in favor of purchasing the property and the Court of Common Council approved the plan in order for the Redevelopment Plan for the Downtown North Project to move forward.
Preparation for demolition has been underway since September. The building is expected to be completely torn down by mid-November.
