Underhill Holds Status Conference; State Supreme Court Sets Briefing Deadline

Beth Rotman, who heads the state’s campaign finance program, says that today’s recently concluded scheduling conference with Federal District Court Judge Stefan Underhill was mostly about scheduling.

Rotman says briefs in the case brought by Republican gubernatorial nominee Tom Foley are due by the end of this week, and briefs on the larger constitutional issues facing the state’s campaign finance program are due beginning in two weeks.

Also, the state Supreme Court has also just issued an order setting a briefing schedule and — interestingly — instructing attorneys to make reference to yesterday’s bombshell appellate court ruling. Here’s the order.
