Time for the city’s Democratic Town Committee to start the process of picking a city council replacement to fill the seat left vacant by Mayor Pedro E. Segarra.
Technically, the charter says it’s the council that picks. But the town committee is apparently taking a first crack. Click below to read its announcement.

INTERVIEWS FOR A POSITION ON
THE HARTFORD COURT OF COMMON COUNCIL

(July 7, 2010) – The Hartford Democratic Town Committee is pleased to announce interviews for the open position on the Hartford Court of Common Council (City Council). Due to the recent resignation of Council President Pedro E. Segarra, there is an open seat on the Hartford City Council. Pursuant to the Hartford City Charter, this position shall be filed by a majority vote of the City Council by August 24, 2010. The term of office for this position extends to January 2011. The Democratic Town Committee invites all interested individuals to appear before its membership on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 6:00 pm at the Hartford Public Library located at 500 Main Street, Hartford, Connecticut. Those interested in interviewing for an appointment by the City Council should be prepared to deliver a five (5) minute presentation regarding their vision for Hartford and be prepared to answer questions from representatives of the committee.
